City Nature Challenge 2023

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is a global initiative that aims to engage citizens in the observation and documentation of local biodiversity. The challenge takes place annually over a four-day period, during which participants are encouraged to explore and record the flora and fauna in their local areas. In 2023, the CNC will take place in Greater Adelaide from the 28th April to May 1st, providing an opportunity for the community to come together and showcase the natural wonders of their region.

Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, is known for its diverse landscapes, ranging from rugged coastlines to lush green parks and reserves. The City Nature Challenge in 2023 will provide an excellent opportunity for locals and visitors alike to explore the region's natural beauty and contribute to a global effort to better understand and appreciate the biodiversity around us.

During the CNC, participants are encouraged to record their observations using the iNaturalist platform, a popular platform for documenting biodiversity. The app allows users to take pictures of flora and fauna, record their location, and share their findings with a global community of naturalists and scientists.

By participating in the City Nature Challenge, participants can make valuable contributions to the scientific community by providing data on local species populations and distributions. This information can help inform conservation efforts and better protect the natural world for future generations.

Moreover, the challenge offers an opportunity to learn more about the natural world and connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for conservation and the environment. With activities and events planned throughout the four-day challenge, there will be ample opportunity to engage with the community and learn more about the biodiversity of Greater Adelaide, you can join or follow the project at City Nature Challenge 2023: Greater Adelaide.

In conclusion, the City Nature Challenge 2023 is an exciting opportunity for residents and visitors of Greater Adelaide to come together and showcase the region's natural beauty. By participating in the challenge, individuals can make a valuable contribution to the scientific community, learn more about the local environment, and connect with others who share a passion for conservation and biodiversity.
